The Big Splash At The Ryleys School
The official launch of our Big Splash project is just around the corner with pupils and teachers launching our campaign by taking part in 'The Great Ryleys Swim'.
Between Monday 5th and Friday 30th June the team will swim the length of the coast of Great Britain in our own school pool. A total of a whopping 126,726 lengths!
This ambitious scheme is the first of many fundraising initiatives planned to raise £250K to build a state of the art pool enclosure. Despite our pool being maintained well and water kept at a warm temperature, the variable Cheshire weather means that often swimming lessons are cancelled and our water based sports opportunities are limited to the summer term only. Understanding the considerable benefits of swimming for physical and mental health, the school has researched various options available to increase the swimming opportunities for our pupils.
This impressive building will not only enable all year round swimming but retain the tradition and benefits of swimming in the fresh air when the weather permits.
Nationally, there is a shortage of access to pools and swimming lessons. We are certain this development will not only significantly improve the offering to our existing and future families, will considerably improve our green status and our positive impact on the local community.
