Shadow Puppets in Pre-School
During their weekly forest-school lesson, the Pre-School pupils enjoyed a creative lesson inspired by Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Firstly, the class read the classic fairytale in the forest and found leaves that were small, medium, and large sized just like the three bears.
Later, the teacher continued the lesson indoors and placed three toy bears in front of the light box, creating different sizes of shadows on the wall. Using the different sized shadows, the teacher extended the lesson to include counting 1, 2, 3. This hands-on learning experience sparks the pupils curiosity and encourages the development of observational skills, creativity and the foundations of mathematics.
