Sailing Club

Sailing Club enjoyed perfect conditions on the water this week, giving pupils the ideal opportunity to build their confidence and develop their sailing skills.

They practised how to 'get out of the irons' - the term used when a boat becomes stuck pointing directly into the wind and loses all forward momentum- before learning how to control their speed, both speeding up and slowing down safely. The session finished with the challenge of coming alongside a pontoon, an important manoeuvre requiring teamwork, precision and good boat handling. It was a fantastic afternoon of learning, with plenty of smiles and impressive progress from everyone involved.
