Keeping it VERY local
Our Gardening Club enjoyed their harvest of potatoes, garlic and raspberries this week and were thrilled to be able to eat their home grown produce on Friday.
Meanwhile, in the dining hall, one of our new food suppliers visited school to promote their own local range with fruit and vegetables being delivered to school only from locally sourced producers.
In addition to the advantage in freshness, growers who cater to local customers aren't constrained by harvesting, packing, transport, and shelf life quality issues. Instead, they have the freedom to select, grow, and harvest their produce.
Now we can all enjoy fresh food with the peace of mind of knowing we are doing another positive thing for our environment.
