From The Head - Friday 26th January 2024
Is your glass half empty or half full? Do you look on the bright side or the bleak side? Are you a pessimist or an optimist? This was the theme of Year 5's excellent assembly this morning which was not only flawlessly delivered, but also contained plenty of food for thought.
Indeed, the world is sadly filled with trouble and as individuals, we all face difficulties and challenges at different times in our lives. However, how we deal with those low points is key and taking a wider view of life and a step back is vital if we are to not only navigate life effectively, but in a positive and fulfilling manner.
How we approach life and the attitude we take not only affects ourselves, but those around us. There is nothing more life-sucking and draining than living with or working alongside someone who always looks on the gloomy side, while, conversely, to experience someone who is happy and positive is extremely life-affirming and joyous. It is these people who motivate you to jump out of bed in the morning and embrace life to the full.
Of course, life is not always plain sailing which is to be expected - no-one is fortunate enough to never face a set-back, upset or challenge - but it is how we view the bumps in the road and get over them that counts. Adopting a positive mental attitude and choosing happiness takes you a long way in achieving success and personal satisfaction, and everyone prefers to be around the smiley people rather than the frowny ones! Remember - smiling is infectious!
As Abraham Lincoln said: "Folks are usually about as happy as they make up their minds to be."
Have a wonderful weekend.
