From The Head - Friday 15th November 2024
Pupil safety in all respects and their wellbeing are always a priority in school, and this week has seen a particular focus on this.
Throughout the week, the national anti-bullying event has provided the perfect opportunity for bringing this very important area into the spotlight to ensure that pupils are aware of how to deal with any potential situations in or out of school. A rise in the use of technology has seen a rise in cyberbullying with 27% of 8 to 15 year olds stating they have experienced some sort of bullying on social media. There is a very clear anti bullying policy in place in school which is continually reinforced with the children.
Safety online and digital footprints were the focus of a very clever Year 3 assembly this morning where children delivered an important and pertinent message about how vigilant we need to be when using any sort of online platforms. While technology has many positive aspects, there is a very dark side to it as well and children need to be well-educated about potential issues and pitfalls.
Wearing something spotty and donating £1 for Children in Need today was another valuable way to high- light child welfare and endeavour to support children who are experiencing very challenging circumstances. 30% of children in the UK are living in poverty, leading to inequality and lack of opportunity which is a horrifying statistic to read.
Hopefully, if we can all work together, we can help all children to live the happy, secure and stable life they deserve.
Have a good weekend!
