Julia Langford, Headteacher of The Ryleys School, a private school in Alderley Edge, Cheshire

'Inspiring Young Minds since 1877' is a core message that runs through The Ryleys School in every single part. It captures the essence of our main objective to not only provide an education which is second to none, but to inspire our pupils to be motivated to learn and expand their minds.

Of course, it is easy for any establishment of any type to put out a strapline - the real challenge and important part is that it is actually delivered on every level and has true meaning.

At The Ryleys School, we are committed to delivering an inspirational education in its truest form, from Early Years all the way through to Year 6, and we deploy a range of approaches and strategies to ensure this happens. Aside from the core curriculum, this also means offering wider and real life opportunities for children to extend their thinking and broaden their horizons.

For example, a Pre School outing to Waitrose a couple of months ago enabled our very young pupils to engage in a whole process of selecting ingredients, paying for them and then using them to create their own pizzas: an incredibly valuable experience which provided real context for the children's learning and cement their understanding.

We are always seeking new and exciting opportunities to challenge our pupils and pique their interest, and with this objective in mind, we are launching a new and innovative ‘Inspiring Young Minds’ programme, unique to The Ryleys School.

This enriching programme will provide our pupils with an opportunity to be inspired by people from some of the area’s most notable organisations and institutions through a series of workshops and visits scheduled throughout the academic year. Our aim is to inspire a natural curiosity with our pupils, to create a desire to learn and dis- cover more about themselves and the world around them.

By being ambitious for the pupils and always seeking to provide unique experiences, it will ensure that Ryleys' pupils are ahead of the curve and enjoy an exceptional provision in school.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Julia Langford.
