From The Head - Friday 12th January 2024

Julia Langford, Headteacher of The Ryleys School, a private school in Alderley Edge, Cheshire

This morning we held our first transition event for the pupils starting our Reception 2024 class.

The event involved the children having a play session in the Reception classrooms while the parents met the teachers, listened to a presentation and had a tour of the school. Our Year 6 head of school pupils also joined us so that they could tell the parents about their experiences of The Ryleys School and what their journey has been like. These pupils are wonderful ambassadors for the school and a shining example of what a Ryleys' education provides.

Starting Reception is such an important time for both parents and pupils, and a comprehensive transition programme ensures that the move is as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Any parent who has been through the process will appreciate that there's nothing quite like that first day when your little child suddenly seems so grown up standing there in their massive blazer and school hat! It is such a special memory that lasts a lifetime.

We can't wait to see our Pre-Reception children take their first steps into the main school, and if this morning is anything to go by, they are going to really thrive there. Exciting times are ahead!

Enjoy your weekend.
